10.38mm White Translucent Laminated Glass

Milky white safety glass for privacy and diffused light.

100–3000 × 1800mm

Safety corners: Each of the four corners is tipped: the sharp point is cut off and polished, so a corner is less likely to catch skin or clothing, or chip when it is knocked. $16 for all four corners. Rounded corners are priced per corner and replace safety corners.

About this glass

The white interlayer turns the glass an even milky white: light comes through, but shapes behind it disappear. Laminated glass is two sheets bonded to a clear interlayer. If it breaks, the pieces stay stuck to the interlayer and the panel stays in place, so it is a safety glass for windows, doors, skylights and balustrades. It cannot be toughened, but it can be cut and polished.

6.38mm suits most windows and doors; 10.38mm and 12.38mm are for larger panes, balustrades and overhead glazing.

Questions

Laminated or toughened?

Both are safety glass. Toughened is stronger; laminated stays in the frame when it breaks, which matters for overhead glass, balustrades and security. Laminated glass can be cut after it is made; toughened cannot.

What does 6.38mm mean?

Two 3mm sheets of glass plus a 0.38mm interlayer.
