About this glass

This glass combines a Low-E coating, which reflects heat to keep rooms more comfortable, with a laminated interlayer, which holds the glass together if it breaks. It is a popular single-pane upgrade for existing timber and aluminium windows.

Laminated glass is two sheets bonded to a clear interlayer. If it breaks, the pieces stay stuck to the interlayer and the panel stays in place, so it is a safety glass for windows, doors, skylights and balustrades. It cannot be toughened, but it can be cut and polished.

Which side does the coating go?

The coating usually faces inside on single glazing. We mark the coated side; check with your glazier for your frame.

Is Low-E the same as double glazing?

No. Double glazing insulates more, but a Low-E laminated pane like ComfortPlus gets much of the way there in an existing single-glazed frame.
