Choosing a glass splashback in Sydney
Painted glass, clear glass or mirror?
- Painted glass is the usual kitchen splashback: one smooth coloured panel with no grout lines. We spray your Dulux colour on the back of low iron glass, so the colour stays true and the paint is protected behind the glass.
- Clear low iron glass keeps a painted wall, wallpaper or feature tiles on show and protects them from splashes.
- Mirror bounces light around a small or dark kitchen. It must be toughenable mirror, which is what we supply. Ordinary mirror cannot be toughened.
How to measure
Measure the width along the benchtop and the height from the benchtop to the underside of the cabinets or rangehood, at both ends and in the middle. Use the smallest figure and take about 3mm off each side that meets a wall or cabinet, so the panel fits with a silicone gap. Runs longer than 3 metres, or walls with a corner, are made as separate panels.
Power points and switches
Choose how many power point cut-outs you need on the product page. After you order we email you to confirm the position and size of each one. A simple sketch with measurements from the left edge and from the bench is all we need. Everything is cut before the glass is toughened, because toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled.
Behind a cooktop
All our splashbacks are 6mm toughened safety glass. Check your cooktop manual for the clearance it needs from the wall, especially for gas burners.

Questions
What colours can I choose?
Any colour in the Dulux range. Type the colour name (for example Dulux Natural White or Dulux Domino) when you order. Standard and metallic finishes are available. Colours on screen and paint chips can look slightly different on glass, so if the exact shade matters, ask us about a sample before you order.
Why low iron glass for a painted splashback?
Ordinary clear glass has a green tint that shows through the paint, so whites look minty and pale colours shift. Low iron glass has most of the iron removed, so the colour you pick is the colour you see. All our painted splashbacks use low iron glass.
Is the glass toughened?
Yes, every splashback is 6mm toughened safety glass. Glass near a cooktop must be toughened, and toughened glass handles the heat and knocks of a kitchen far better than ordinary glass.
Can you cut holes for power points?
Yes. Choose how many power point cut-outs you need on the product page. After you order we email you to confirm the exact position of each one before the glass is made. Holes cannot be added after toughening.
How do I measure for a splashback?
Measure the width and height of the wall area in millimetres at a few points and use the smallest. Take about 3mm off each side that meets a wall, cabinet or benchtop so the glass fits with a silicone gap. For more than one panel, measure each panel separately.
Do you install splashbacks?
No, we make and deliver the glass. Most glaziers, kitchen fitters and handy home owners can fix a glass splashback with a neutral cure silicone made for glass.
How much does a glass splashback cost in Sydney?
A 600 × 2400mm painted glass splashback (6mm low iron, toughened, polished edges) is $409.95, or $497.95 with two power point cut-outs, and there is no delivery charge on orders of $400 or more. A 600 × 900mm panel behind a cooktop is $217.63 plus $59 delivery. Enter your own size on the product page for an exact price.
How long does it take?
Splashbacks are made to order. Once the colour and cut-out positions are confirmed, allow about 7 to 9 working days for painted glass and a little less for clear glass and mirror.
